Welcome to the DruidsRaven, David's and Lisa's Gallery, and a Photojournal of our travels

A shared interest in other people's and cultures, David's classical education and deep knowledge of history, and Lisa's passion for wildlife and wild places, has often taken us off the beaten path. Coming at the worldfrom very different points of view - as individuals and photographers - has enriched these journeys. We want to add another layer to experience by sharing these images, observations and insights with others.

The meaning behind "DruidsRaven"

David's paternal ancestry is Celtic (Welsh, then Irish, then Scottish), and an anagram of his full name includes the word "Druid." David's current line of professional business includes consulting in the healthcare idustry, and he likes to be thought of as a wise old Druid.

Lisa is an avid birder and has long used a bird logo for her artistic endeavors. Lisa has loved ravens all her life, especially the fabled ravens of North West Coast and Native American lore.

OUR LATEST TRIP:
Saigon & the Mekong Delta, February, 2012

10% of Vietnamese are Catholic, I was told. Many public buildings in Saigon are French, from the Nineteenth Century, like the brick Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral. I especially liked her neon halo.

The cathedral is festooned with these plaques. I am not sure of their significance.

I walked past a butcher’s stall. These bones seem so relaxed, hanging over the lip of the bucket.

Different species in different basins, all aerated with fresh water. Live fish and squid are best! Very fresh!
